To ensure high-quality reproduction of photography, illustration, and artwork in web communications the following guidelines were developed:

Restrictions for file sizes are important for the web. They determine the time it takes for a page to load. Photo and art increase the load time on your web page, so use them wisely.
Use photos and artwork that are clear and sharp.
Whether scanning or taking digital photos, ensure that the artwork is large enough. You can always reduce art for use on the web, but enlarging it for the web will result in a blurry image.

Photography, illustration, and artwork are considered intellectual property. Any images used on the web must have the approval of the creator or be appropriately licensed.
