Stationery items are an important part of the Iowa State University visual identity system. A coordinated system of stationery, including letterhead, envelopes, business cards, and other correspondence materials help project a strong, unified image. These materials are often the universitys first contact with a variety of audiences. Consistency in design, use of color, and typestyle is essential.

All Iowa State stationery items are printed by Printing Services. Do not order stationery from outside vendors. They do not have the official specifications and the reproduction quality will vary between printers.
University stationery may not be used for personal matters or non-university business. Registered student organizations do not conduct official university business and may not use university stationery. The Government of the Student Body is the only exception.
No other logos are permitted on university stationery. Other logos or graphics detract from the nameplate and dilute the universitys image. If your unit is planning a special campaign or marketing effort, consider using a format other than stationery to promote your project. Brochures, flyers, or posters will more effectively communicate your message. Contact the office of University Marketing for advice on special promotions.
