Visual Identity System

Electronic Presentations

Typography is an important part of Iowa State's visual identity. Because our graphic communications reach many overlapping audiences, it is important that the university's image is reflected clearly and consistently in all situations.

Two type families form the foundation of our graphic identity: ITC Berkeley Old Style and Univers. While these fonts work extremely well in print communications, due to technical limitations of electronic presentation software, two different fonts that share some of the same characteristics of Berkeley and Univers have been carefully chosen for use in electronic presentations.

These fonts can be found in all computers and do not require purchase or installation.

Tips

  1. Use only fonts included in the presentation font set.
  2. If you need to reverse copy out of a color, choose one of the darker colors in our palette.
  3. Use only presentation colors. Please visit the Color section of this site for approved presentation colors.
  4. Use high contrast color combinations if possible. Avoid using light-colored type on white or light-colored backgrounds. This combination is often difficult to read.
  5. Minimum point size for copy should be 14 points, small fonts are difficult to read from the back of a room.
